I’ve finished all the final touches and am excited to show you my newest painting titled: 3 Trees on Calvary.

Lost in time, these cypress tree saplings share a connection to the divine.

The inspiration for this painting came from an image that has followed me for about 15 years in some very unusual ways. I decided it was finally time to paint it. I wanted to preserve some of the original Christian imagery but added a few unique touches that I hope add more to this painting’s story.

One element I really wanted to add was a solar eclipse. Ever since I learned about solar eclipses as a child, I have been so eager to see one in person. Last year when a total eclipse came to the Cincinnati area, I was determined to be a part of the event. It was such an awe-inspiring moment as the world around me was instantly quiet… it had an eerie yet and calming feeling. I couldn’t help but think about how people throughout history must have felt while viewing this celestial event. It seemed perfect to add to such a personally meaningful painting. One thing that stood out to me was the color change of the sky and the landscape. I remember thinking everything looked so purple! You can see purple (and orange) throughout this piece as the dominant colors.
